SINGLE REVIEW: Old Friends - Missing

Meet my new favourite band! New Jersey's Old Friends have got it all! True wow factor! How do these guys have less than 50 monthly listeners on Spotify, seriously, sort it out peeps!

Latest single 'Missing' has the raucous energy of punk, the gritty vocals of classic rock and the melodic-ness of pop punk. There's big time thumping drums, catchy hooks and massive riffs. It's infectious, addictive and blasts from the moment it kicks in!

The songwriting is flawless and relevant. Taking a look at those times you feel overwhelmed finding comfort in things that will only serve to bring you down further "this bottle of Jack has no more faith in me". Letting other people's "decay" have an effect on you. Not doing things you know you should "haven't been to work in days" because you're so hung up on the bewilderment of life and stuff you can't change. It also offers a glimmer of hope, the knowledge you'll get over the rough patch in the end and will make it through.

Everything about 'Missing' is authentic and sincere. The band's aim is to deliver big tunes that catch your attention both musically and lyrically and they've achieved this to perfection.

The ending is priceless, as who I take to be one the band says to his kid "what do you think buddy" to which the child replies "Dad, your band sound like shit", made me laugh aloud, an unexpected but perfect twist! I'm super excited to hear more from Old Friends, 'Missing' is my single of the week!

By day I'm a Leaks, Condensation, Damp and Mould Resident Liaison Officer and by night I'm CRB's admin bitch, reviewer extraordinaire, point and hope for the best photographer, paperclip monitor and expert at breaking anything technical then expecting Scott to fix it!

I'm into all kinds of music the more obscure the better (my music taste is definitely better than yours 🤪😜) with my fave band being The Wonder Years.

I'm an Ipswich Town fan and have an unhealthy obsession with hedgehogs!
