SINGLE REVIEW: I.C.Wiener - На Атомы

I was reluctant to review the latest single from I.C.Wiener 'На Атомы' (On the Atoms) as it’s entirely in Russian. Which for someone who puts so much weight on lyrically themes makes writing a challenge but it's such a captivating, emotional listen I almost forgot I had no idea what they were singing about.

Coming in with reverby, suspenseful guitars leading to trudging, protesting vocals. 'На Атомы" fully kicks in with a proggy sound and post-punk energy. Theres plodding elements of doom. Funky, upbeat, classic rock vibes. Spoken sections, impassioned, intense vocals that draw likeness to the gritty tones of Kurt Cobain. 'На Атомы' is melodic with pop undertones. There's dramatic drums running throughout as well as frequent changes in tempo. It mixes genres and blurs boundaries continually.

'На Атомы' is a captivating, enthralling listen. There's so much crammed into 6 minutes. These guys have zero monthly listens which is criminal, the level of workmanship on 'На Атомы' is to be applauded.
