SINGLE REVIEW: Diamond Country Dance Club - Don't Tell Jonny

St Neots, Cambridgeshire four piece Diamond Country Dance Club tell the tale of drinking and debauchery on their debut single "Didn't Tell Jonny".

Kicking off with some fun, fuzzy drum effects before introducing some even fuzzier, exploding guitars "Didn't Tell Jonny" is a up-beat full pace indie anthem. With infectious hooks and vocals with just the right amount of bite. Smooth but raw they've the perfect indie stance and post punk tendencies. The track is super catchy, highly addictive and it guarantees to have you dancing round your living room! It features a jazzy guitar solo and a pensive moment as the story reaches its bitter finale.

The lyrics seem to be telling the tale of someone who doesn't lead their life in an honest, honourable way. Drinking to excess and getting noticed for all the wrong reasons. They try to settle down with someone who "isn't the best" only to go seeking romance elsewhere in the "back of a polo". The song's tempo lowers at the realisation that their "names got out" and they've been found out for all their wrongdoings. 'Don't Tell Jonny' is an eye opener for just how easy it can be to go down the wrong path and end up with your life in a mess.

'Don't Tell Jonny' is a strong debut from Diamond Country Dance Club; it has all the right elements of a contagious indie anthem. Perfect jangle, balanced vocals paired exceptional songwriting and storytelling. I was obsessed from first listen and I guarantee you will be too!
