SINGLE REVIEW: MODERN SHAKES - 'Canadasolite'

From the first chord, I knew I was going to love MODERN SHAKES latest single, 'Canadasolite'! It's like a lightning bolt of perfectly melodic punk. The vocals strike the right balance of harmony and raw fury. The instrumentation is great – it's been really well produced to sound professional but also retain the DIY ethos of punk. Punchy, exhilarating guitars and brash drums create a confident sound that pulls you in immediately.

What really stands out about 'Canadasolite' is how it blends catchy hooks with thoughtful, emotive songwriting. The lyrics dive into the weight of life's worries, the struggle to tear down metaphorical walls, and the feeling of being trapped within one's mind. It burns with the fire of life's tumultuousness and really captures the burden of existence, making it both relatable and deeply moving.

Lifted from their debut album, “A Bolt From The Blue,” set for release on 24 May 2024, 'Canadasolite' is an excellent introduction to the band and feeds my newfound punk addiction nicely. This track has left me eagerly anticipating the full album. I can't wait to give it a spin and immerse myself in more of MODERN SHAKES electrifying sound!
