SINGLE REVIEW: Crazy Loop - Love Maria
Welcome to your new guilty pleasure! 'Love Maria' by Moldovan artist Crazy Loop (aka Dan Bălan) is a little bit cheesy, undeniably catchy, dancefloor-filling Euro Pop anthem! It couldn't be further from my listening style but I'm obsessed!
Having found success in a lot of Europe Crazy Loop is bringing his up-tempo, charismatic brand of EDM to the rest of the world.
'Love Maria' is a multi-tempo track. The chorus is a carnival of colour and radiation positivity with an infectious feel-good factor while the verse provides a more mid-tempo sound allowing the song to build and explode. Lower moments deliver an atmospheric soundscape. Unlike a lot of dance music that has a tendency to sound repetitive, 'Love Maria' is a diverse listen with lots of variety and aspects to pique and keep your interest.
The vocals mix tones from the captivating high notes of the chorus to the theatrical lower tones of the verse. The synths are bewitching but not overpowering as the track takes inspiration from the 80s and 90's with its retro vibes.
The lyrics enchant with the notion of getting on life's rollercoaster unafraid, allowing yourself to be free and go with the flow. Enjoying the moments you spend with those you value most.
The video features almost 3000 children from Ukraine schools. It was filmed in Kyiv 10 days before the war broke out.
'Love Maria' is a party, a radiation of happiness. A feel-good anthem that will keep you dancing all summer! I'm a guitar music enthusiast, so 'Love Maria' couldn't be further from my liking but its addictive energy and infectious sound had me hooked instantly and it's been stuck in my head ever since.
