SINGLE REVIEW: AiramFM - Serenity

AiramFM is the stage name of Danish singer-songwriter Maria Friis Møller. The project began as a way to pay tribute to her late mother who passed away in April 2022 and channel the grief she was feeling. She has released a total of 8 singles so far dating back to her September 2022 debut ‘Angel’. Her music is self-penned and self-produced from the living room of her apartment.

Latest single 'Serenity' sees Marie up the pace for a more dance inspired feel.

Sweet, soft, ethereal vocals play out against gentle, bouncing synths. 'Serenity' is dreamy and captivating as it seamlessly mixes tones varying from bold and danceable to more understated and haunting.

Maria's voice is beautiful, homely, and comforting. It adapts with the tone of the music transitioning from cute and playful to grand and impactful as the track's tempo ramps up. A diverse talent, a voice that could lend itself to any genre. While essentially pop 'Serenity' features gentle dancefloor vibes as well as hints of rock as the pace builds towards the end for a burst of vibrant vocals before concluding on a full-on dance moment.

The lyrics present the idea of not quite fitting in but meeting someone whose energy matches your own "you're a bit chaotic too", in that moment feeling a sense of serenity and freedom to be who you want, a true reflection on yourself as you know the other person gets you entirely.

An enticing, positive listen Marie is a wonderful talent who I think will blossom as she gains confidence and more industry experience. I would be interested to hear a full band version of 'Serenity' as I think it would lend itself well to a more gritty energy.

By day I'm a Leaks, Condensation, Damp and Mould Resident Liaison Officer and by night I'm CRB's admin bitch, reviewer extraordinaire, point and hope for the best photographer, paperclip monitor and expert at breaking anything technical then expecting Scott to fix it!

I'm into all kinds of music the more obscure the better (my music taste is definitely better than yours 🤪😜) with my fave band being The Wonder Years.
