SINGLE REVIEW: Coastal Fire Dept. - Stranger Town

Coastal Fire Dept. are back with their best noise yet in the shape of their anthemic new single 'Stranger Town’.

The track continues with their fuzzy grunge laced vibe but adds elements of out and out alt rock providing something that sounds like Kurt Cobain meets Therapy?'s Andy Cairns drawing surreal likeness to the latter's 'Six Mile Water' at times.

'Stranger Town' is trudging, growing into an epic, grand stature. Guitars rage with shoegaze style distortion as the drums thunder. The vocals are well rounded while retaining a raw passionate edge. It's chaotic but well structured, exciting but familiar.

There's sparkling picturesque riffs that explode into fierce, frantic energy, the drums occasionally protesting to make themselves heard while the bass gets darker and fuzzier. The vocals throughout are confident with the magnitude of a seasoned pro.

'Stranger Town' is a magnificent deluge of sounds, distortion with a killer, catchy chorus, epic hooks and a vibrancy that can't fail to have you addicted.

I'm Amy a Norfolk girl, currently residing at the seaside.

Age: eternally 21 (I’m really Peter Pan!).

By day I'm a Leaks, Condensation, Damp and Mould Resident Liaison Officer and by night I'm CRB's admin bitch, reviewer extraordinaire, point and hope for the best photographer, paperclip monitor and expert at breaking anything technical then expecting Scott to fix it!

I'm into all kinds of music the more obscure the better (my music taste is definitely better than yours 🤪😜) with my fave band being The Wonder Years.

I'm an Ipswich Town fan and have an unhealthy obsession with hedgehogs!
