Y release third EP reveal 'Ladies Who'

Y release third EP reveal 'Ladies Who', out now

Debut EP 'Y' set for release April 4th via SO RECORDINGS & HIDEOUS MINK RECORDS

London newcomers Y share brand new track ‘Ladies Who’, out today (April 1st) via Hideous Mink Records (Alien Chicks, Opus Kink) & SO Recordings (Enter Shikari, Deadletter, Big Special), marking the third reveal from upcoming debut EP ‘Y’ (pre-order vinyl here) set for release April 4th.

Emerging from the creative crucible of the capital and comprising of members from or involved with Fat White Family, Meatraffle and Pregoblin, Y is a genre-defying band founded by Adam Brennan and Sophie Coppin during a period of isolation. The duo discovered an uncanny synergy in their music-making, blending shared tastes with contrasting stylistic approaches. This paradox birthed the eclectic, unpredictable sound that defines Y - playfully described as “wonk rock,” “Gameboy thrash,” and even “Egyptian wedding music.”

Newly-signed to Hideous Mink Records & So Recordings, Y will be celebrating the release of their EP on April 24th at London’s iconic 100 Club, followed by a series of festival appearances across the summer months including The Great Escape, Brighten The Corners and Manchester Psych Festival.

Ahead of their upcoming release, the band stated: “‘Ladies Who’ approaches the topic of exploitation in the media under the joyful guise of a wonky pop song. Although the song’s lyrics are the story of a female killer, the music presents an almost cabaret-like dictation of events, highlighting the fantastical and absurd exaggeration of true events in journalism in order to gain more traction. ‘Ladies who’ poses the question, ‘ladies who’- what?, what would make you listen?”.

Y’s ‘Ladies Who’ is out now via SO Recordings and Hideous Mink Records and available on all digital platforms.

Y is Adam Brennan (vocals, guitar), Sophie Coppin (vocals, synth), Dan GB (bass), Fells (drums), Harry Mchale (sax)
