Written By Wolves release long-awaited new album 'THE LIGHTHOUSE'
New Zealand’s highest streaming rock band WRITTEN BY WOLVES have released their brand new album ‘THE LIGHTHOUSE’ and shared a music video for the title-track.
‘THE LIGHTHOUSE’ album (self-release) is a concept album that picks up where ‘Secrets’ (the band´s 2019 debut album) left off. Whereas ‘Secrets’ was about the thoughts and feelings that we don’t feel comfortable talking about and the effect that has on our mental health, ‘THE LIGHTHOUSE’ is about what pulls you out of those dark places. It looks at the concept of home – not necessarily a physical place, but the one that makes you feel comfortable, that puts you at ease and makes you feel safe. ‘THE LIGHTHOUSE’ is about finding the things that lead you back to that concept of home when you are in your darkest moments.
“This album has been two years in the making and it’s been over a year since we released the first single ‘GIVE ‘EM HELL’. We are so excited to finally have it out in the world in it's entirety and cannot wait to hear what you all think. “The title-track is the embodiment of the entire concept, the crux of the story. It is the turning point and the moment of realisation that we don’t have to go through these things alone. That it is not weakness to allow someone or something to help us find our way back home, but in fact strength. That these are very normal struggles that everyone goes through – and if everyone is experiencing these same struggles and trying to find their way back home, then we’re never really alone at all. It is about finding your lighthouse, and realising that while it might not always be obvious, it is always there and the light is always on,” adds Muphy.
The genre-bending 13-track album was recorded and produced in LA with Gladius James (Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, Fifth Harmony) and serves as a snapshot of Written By Wolves right now, the truest representation of their current sound, and a taste of where they might go in the future…
