Stone Deaf Unleashes 'Red Head' – A Raw, Energetic Anthem Out Now

Stone Deaf, a powerhouse trio from Swansea, has released their latest single, Red Head, a track that captures the essence of rebellion and resilience. Written by frontman Michael Pole, who also brings his intensity to the vocals and guitars, the song was recorded in South Wales with producer James Weaver, handpicked to bring the band’s raw live energy into the studio. Rounding out the lineup are William Walton on drums and Travis McDonagh on bass, both adding to the song’s relentless drive and intensity.

Red Head draws sonic inspiration from rock icons, with Jack White’s signature distortion influencing the guitar tone and an upper-octave solo style reminiscent of AC/DC’s Angus Young. The track’s rhythmic foundation also carries the punchy staccato style of Queens of the Stone Age, giving the song a gritty yet controlled edge. Beneath the powerful sound lies a deeper narrative, reflecting on a brief but toxic relationship that became marred by manipulation and exploitation—a story that resonates with anyone who’s found themselves in a similar struggle.

Recorded in stages, the process for Red Head was carefully structured to preserve the band’s live spirit. William Walton’s drum work was laid down first, setting a strong foundation. Bass and rhythm guitar followed, building on that pulse with a raw yet precise feel. The recording concluded with Pole’s layered guitar riffs and unfiltered vocals, using minimal effects to keep the sound as authentic as possible.

Stone Deaf marked the release with a packed-out show at Piñata's in Swansea on 31 October, celebrating not only Red Head but also their one-year anniversary as a band. Already making waves with sold-out performances, Stone Deaf’s journey is just beginning, with Red Head showcasing a band that’s unafraid to channel both ferocity and vulnerability into their music.
