SoundScars share album “Legacies”

  Who has never changed their mood listening to a song? He was sad, happy, angry, scared. Art, especially music, has this capacity. The listener is able to relive the universe created by the composer, breathe in its atmosphere. Many say that this phenomenon is called “feeling the music”. In this more philosophical context, we can say that art marks our soul, changing our way of seeing the world. If art marks our skin, art also leaves scars, preventing us from being the same. Thus, the concept “sound scars” emerged; in which we can give two interpretations: that after listening people will no longer be the same, and also in the way of demonstrating to the world the musical scars of the composer and also, why not, of the musicians who participate. Thus, the SoundScars project by guitarist Rubem Barreto was born, based on collaborations, mixing elements of Brazilian popular music and classical music with the best of classic heavy metal: heavy guitars, striking riffs and well-crafted melodic lines.

What does the word inheritance mean to you? According to the dictionary it means “action of inheriting; to acquire by succession”. In general, this word is linked to its legal meaning where, due to someone's death, material assets are left to an heir. However, inheritance is much more than just something material; In a more “philosophical” concept, inheritance is everything that marks and physically or psychologically transforms all things in the universe. Our existence is surrounded by countless forms of inheritance: genetic, material, direct or indirect impacts on our lives... Legacies is the first album of the SoundScars project produced by Celo Oliveira (Estúdio Kolera) released on April 22, 2024 and brings the different vocal collaborations as you can hear. Among the more than special appearances are Anna Porreca (ex-Lynx the Revenge), Lorena Tato (ex-Dark Tower, currently Lynx the revenge), Gabby Vessoni (Fleesh), Leandro Felício (Lynx the Revenge) and Vinicius Libania (Black Priest). With a heavy and conceptual footprint, in its 8 songs, the album Legacies deals with different possible manifestations of heritages that will certainly make you reflect on humanity and the life we ​​live today. The album deals with everything from the genetic inheritance that manifests itself through madness, psychosis and schizophrenia, to the legacies left by ancient people or even past lives; Finally, cursed legacies such as the destruction of the planet and culture, and the undeniable legacy of the covid-19 pandemic are addressed.
