SON ESTRELLA GALICIA IS THE MUSICAL ARM OF THE FAMILY OWNED, INDEPENDENT ESTRELLA GALICIA BEER BRAND WHICH HAS SPECIALISED IN CREATING UNFORGETTABLE MUSIC & BEER EXPERIENCES SINCE 2009

SON Estrella Galicia announce their biggest London event to date ‘Soundhood Hackney’ - a groundbreaking two day micro-festival of Live Music, Beer Culture, Street Food and Positive Impact, taking place at Paper Dress Vintage on June 13th and for the first time, collaborating with second Hackney venue Two Palms on June 14th.

‘Soundhood Hackney’ marks a brand new phase in SON Estrella Galicia’s development, with June’s London event the first in a series of new micro-festivals in cities across Europe, with subsequent partnerships in Madrid, A Coruña, Barcelona later in 2024 and Berlin and Granada in 2025. These events will include concerts in venues, activations in record stores, new gastronomic partnerships, upcycling workshops, plastic collections on beaches and sporting activities in the same neighbourhood, all in a bid to support local and culture communities.

Headlining Paper Dress Vintage on June 13th will be Sworn Virgins, as well as support from Plantoid and Gia Ford, whilst DITZ are set to headline Two Palms on June 14th, alongside Gallus and Cosmorat.

Since 2009, SON Estrella Galicia has created events that offer a twist on the traditional concert experience in Spain, Brazil, Portugal and the US. They have since become well established in the London scene with 4 events in the past 18 months at Paper Dress Vintage in Hackney  including high profile performances and attendees including Los Bitchos, Teleman, Dream Wife, Prima Queen, DEADLETTER, Swim Deep and more.

From its inception the family-owned independent beer brand has fostered community roots in Galicia - working with local farmers and suppliers, and giving visibility to the region and its people. This is replicated at their events across the world - working with local vendors, artists, and sustainability projects.

In an age where local venues have never been more important but face mounting barriers towards long-term sustainability, and their capacity to contribute towards environmental issues - the events SON Estrella Galicia put on demonstrate the power in partnerships between like-minded teams.

Sworn Virgins (London) are set to headline Paper Dress Vintage on June 13th with their blend of dance floor fillers and Despacio staple tracks. Born and raised in dance culture, SV are behind some of the most exciting projects currently going such as Paranoid London, Warmduscher and Decius.

Plantoid (Brighton) will also be performing at Paper Dress Vintage. The thrilling quartet concoct a sort of primordial soup, the molecules of which are built as much from progressive rock as they are from jazz, fusion, folk, and even a bit of ‘70s hard rock for good measure. Their debut album ‘Terrapath’ arrived earlier this year via iconic indie label Bella Union.

Gia Ford (Sheffield) will kick off the event. Raised between Sheffield and Cheshire, Ford developed an early passion for both poetry and original songs. This has culminated in her spectacular debut album, ‘Transparent Things’, a collection that demonstrates Ford’s signature Sheffield swagger, burnished with nods to alt-pop and psychedelic sleaze. Most of all, it shows how Ford is able to craft songs like no other artist of her generation.

DJ sets from Jawa Jones, Harry James and Kyri R2 will take place throughout the event (free access downstairs).

DITZ (Brighton) are set to headline Two Palms on June 14th. A ferocious live band, DITZ create  forward-thinking noise rock/post-punk which features vast arrays of pedal effects with influences from 80s and 90s post-hardcore and noise rock, and have attracted widespread acclaim through the press and radio landscape.

Gallus (Glasgow) will also perform on the bill, showcasing material from their explosive debut LP release ‘We Don’t Like The People We’ve Become’. With a reputation for electric and chaotic live shows, the band have already supported Biffy Clyro and played festivals throughout the US and Europe.

Cosmorat (London) will kick off the event at Two Palms. The brainchild of Taylor Pollock and Olly Liu, the musicians met in college where they bonded over a shared love of Alabama Shakes, blues music, and sonic textures. Since moving to London, the duo have recruited Lorenzo Burgio, completing the band with breakbeats, samples, and bombastic drums.

DJ sets from Mondowski (London & Bordeaux) and Jeff Higgins (BBE) will also take place throughout the event (free access downstairs).

In line with Estrella Galicia´s efforts towards sustainability, the event will have interactive elements embodying the Reduce, Re-use and Recycle mantra. In collaboration with friends from Relic Plastic, the impact activation event will take place at Paper Dress Vintage on June 13th, featuring an interactive workshop on sustainability in the fashion world.

Estrella Galicia’s beer experts will be providing an exclusive What Does Your Beer Sound Like? tasting workshop in the evening (June 13th), showcasing the brand’s artisanal and multi-sensory approach to their craft. There will also be a pre-event at BBE Store on the same night (4:30pm) focusing on music selections and beer pairings.

Local vendors Yellow Garble will be the gastronomic partners at Paper Dress Vintage, whilst Two Palms’ street food partner is ‘Food Fight’. There will also be beer pairing recommendations for which these events have also become known.

On the partnership, Victor Mantiñán, Head of Global Music Sponsorship at Estrella Galicia said: “We are very excited to celebrate our first Soundhood (in the world) in London. We wanted to take our micro-festival concept a step further by bringing together different venues in a two-day programme of activities where there will of course be a lot of music on different stages, but also beer workshops and local street food proposals without giving up our commitment to positive impact. Soundhood London will feature not only the excellent bands that will take to the stages of Paper Dress Vintage and Two Palms but also Hackney's local artisans and allies that make this neighbourhood an example of non-conformism and avant-garde.”
