SINGLE REVIEWS: Edie Yvonne - In the Rain

LA-based, 14-year-old indie pop songstress Edie Yvonne delves into emotional unrest and a quest to find a moment of inner peace on her beautiful new single 'In the Rain'.

Melancholy and dreamy, the track takes a look at the feelings and emotions that run free after an intense, unsettling conversation with someone significant. It's a moment of raw pain that shows both openness and Edie's maturity as a songwriter

Stunningly hypnotic 'In the Rain' borrows from 60's psychedelia adding a modern indie twist. The sound gives the imagery of a downward spiral, a kaleidoscope of uneasiness. Edie's vocals are beautiful. They have a pretty tone with ethereal qualities. Some elements of slight imperfection work well, allowing frustrated emotions to flow. The simple musical accompaniment of solemn, subdued drums and scratchy guitars works perfectly. They provide a fitting backdrop but allow the majority of focus to be on Edie's voice.

'In the Rain' is a retro laced tune that is mesmerising from the start. Dreaming and captivating. It's an authentic trip into a turbulent mind filled with questions and vulnerabilities.
