SINGLE REVIEW: Weekly Round-Up 16/09/24 - 22/09/24
Close To Monday - Different
Close To Monday are an European Electronic Rock band, whose albums ‘Interference’ and ‘Secret Wishes’ entered in the top 3 of the Deutsche Alternative Charts.
They are for people who are on a journey exploring themselves or the surrounding world.
CTM’s newest track Different opens with pulsating bass lines and soft saw synths, the clean serene vocals punch in and you’re transported to a different time, for me it’s sat in front of the family computer playing random games, the quirky playful bouncing synths create a sense of nostalgia.
This song is very empowering and promotes self love and is very much felt within those compelling rhythms endearing lyrics.
Sergio Gaetani - The Trail
Carving his own path in indie rock, Detroit’s Sergio Gaetani now moves onto greener pastures, focusing on experimental psychedelic western country. Previously releasing ‘The Runner’ and now the newly released ‘The Trail’ is really painting a passionate and fiery picture to what is to come on the West That Never Was Album. The Trail opens with gentle plucks of a harp before those rich, low silky vocals make an exquisite entrance that along with the beautiful guitar soloing seduces the listener. The Percussion sets a pace that feels like a steady horseback hack, and bells in the background create a mysterious tone. There’s a bite of danger, coolness and passion - Everything that a country lover thrives on.
Accompanied by an awesome music video that gives major Star Wars vibes is an absolute bonus!
The Sub-Atomix - Ms. Information
Northern California Punk band, The Sub Atomix, release an in-your-face track Ms. Information a political message manifesting into an unruly woman seeking to create chaos. The track opens with rumbling bass, aired guitar tones and steady beats before crunching into those hefty power chords and obnoxiously iconic vocals. It’s a very catchy song, very simple and enjoyable. Very easily lead me down a rabbit hole of their other tunes. 10/10 can recommend.
Rivages - Shake
Brussels Belgium, band Rivages, release their album Mug’s Game providing music lovers a lethal mixture of grunge, rock and progressive metal. I’ve focused on the opening track Shake opening with unhinged guitar solo work, grumbling bass lines, the crunch of rhythm guitar held together by a whirlwind of percussion. The vocals remind me of very early Trent Reznor. Once again this track is very catchy, the raw production adds color, and smacks the listener with attitude. A great find indeed!
Waking Stone - Age Of Rage
This American Band is utilizing an individual release for their album “Still Living In War” for fans to keep up with them. Inspired by their own experiences and unfiltered view living in America and fearlessly addressing social and political concerns defining the current time.
I’m focusing on Age of Rage and my instant thought was..
Goodness! Waking Stone really know how to make their presence known. Really know how to make a call-to-arms. I’m instantly hooked! From those weaving solos, the solid rhythm chords and basslines and not to mention those strong operatic vocals that will give you chills! Be prepared to be further impressed with those high notes! Extraordinary range! It’s a song that will instantly give you a boost and gets you pumped for anything! 12/10 A must listen!
Ronan Furlong - Tied To The Mast
Irish Musician and songwriter, Ronan Furlong, a virtuoso with range and diversity aims to produce thought-provoking and engaging music. Releasing Tied To The Mast that takes a sailors shanty to a whole new level infusing progressive rock and folk, with strong vibrant vocals and masterful guitar solos, and grounding bass rhythms. This track is another one that is surely to impress!
10/10 solid and colorful songwriting and crystal clear production quality.
Marty O'Neill - Do You Still Need Me
A sweet little country/folk ditty, 'Do You Still Need Me' by Marty O'Neill glides along pleasantly. Based in Maryland, Marty is also a published author, and his music reflects his life experiences. After a long period of searching, he has finally found the right groove, the right melody, and the right words to fully express how he feels about his lifelong love. The strings that emerge in the latter part of the track add a beautiful touch, enhancing its emotional depth. Overall, it’s a lovely listen that captures a gentle, reflective, sentimental vibe.

Dean Cooper - Here Comes That Girl
This track is a fantastic nod to 80s hair metal, capturing that classic sound many know and love. I’d liken it to a blend of Alice Cooper and Mötley Crüe, combining theatrical flair with catchy hooks. It’s well constructed, featuring a sing-along chorus and all the elements you’d expect from a song in this genre. Dean Cooper delivers on every front, making it a solid addition to any rock playlist.
