SINGLE REVIEW: Wax Mekanix - Freak Boutique

Wax Mekanix embraces the strange on latest single 'Freak Boutique'.

A bit weird, a bit peculiar and a whole heap of surreal 'Freak Boutique' captivates with arty vocals and catchy chorus.

Encouraging the listener not to worry about not conforming, instead take the strange by both hands and hold on to it. Join the 'Freak Boutique' where people are battling whether they're devils or angels, enjoying the bizarre and out of this world. Embracing one's flaws and just appreciating the person you are.

'Freak Boutique' comes in on sinister whine before cabaret-esque melody joins and the slightly creepy vocals sit atop. It's an understated sound that occasionally erupts into a more bold noise. The music feels less important on 'Freak Boutique' as is the off the wall vocals that take the majority of your attention.

An interesting tune that likely won't be for everyone but for anyone who doesn't quite fit in it’s going to be the new soundtrack to your life!

Amy

I'm Amy a Norfolk girl, currently residing at the seaside.

Age: eternally 21 (I’m really Peter Pan!).

By day I'm a Leaks, Condensation, Damp and Mould Resident Liaison Officer and by night I'm CRB's admin bitch, reviewer extraordinaire, point and hope for the best photographer, paperclip monitor and expert at breaking anything technical then expecting Scott to fix it!

I'm into all kinds of music the more obscure the better (my music taste is definitely better than yours 🤪😜) with my fave band being The Wonder Years.

I'm an Ipswich Town fan and have an unhealthy obsession with hedgehogs!
