SINGLE REVIEW: Victor Sierra - The Open Sea

On first listen I wasn't at all sure about Victor Sierra's latest single 'The Open Sea'. It's an interesting song that definitely didn't make sense to start.

There's a lot going on. Beginning with rhythmic drums there's a sinister spoken verse before grand thundering guitars are introduced which lead to "The Legendary Converted Princesses”' artistic, dramatic steamgothic, semi spoken, vox. 'The Open Sea' is back with haunting, enthralling guitars that further add to the track's drama while "Commander Bobs" additional, slightly rough voice adds additional creepiness as well as a bit of cheekiness. There's a fun computerised section and an overall gothic darkness.

The lyrics share a story of valliance and defiance, choosing the freedom of the 'The Open Sea' rather than mindlessly following the influence of others.

'The Open Sea' is miles outside the box, incomparable to anything I've heard. You need to take your time to make sense of the noise coming from your speakers but it's worth investing in. It's different with impact and captivating intrigue.
