SINGLE REVIEW: The Laymans Preachers - I Dare You

Queensland's The Layman Preachers deliver a fast-paced, angry tune about car thefts in their area in the form of their new single 'I Dare You'.

While the theme is specific to the band to the listener it could be about anything, a way to channel pretentious annoyance. A "don't cross with me" type stance. Radiated in the line "don't fuck with me cause I fuck back". 'I Dare You' is a perfect slice of attitude heavy punk meets rock n roll.

Coming on a chilled-out jangle it soon crashes into a high-octane dose of raucous energy. Brash and abrasive throughout. Rhythmic yet full of fury, it would make the perfect backdrop to a frantic car chase on a movie soundtrack.

The raspy male vocals mix with soulful fem backing which works perfectly to balance out the anger. Punky, chaotic riffs blends with pounding drums and occasional electrifying solos as the track alters tempos to keep things interesting.

'I Dare You' is a ballsy, fuck you kind of track, the type of song that leaves you wired and ready to take on the world!

I'm into all kinds of music the more obscure the better (my music taste is definitely better than yours 🤪😜) with my fave band being The Wonder Years.
