SINGLE REVIEW: Royal Oak - A Song For Ya

Vancouvor alt-pop four piece Royal Oak take inspiration from a band members breakup on sensational new single 'A Song For Ya'.

The track beams with stunning, gentle synths, laid back drums and infectious groove driven guitars. It is melodic with the seductive tones of RnB teamed with the melodic-ness of pop, rock star attitude and classic pop punk themes of love and loss.

It's hook heavy with a catchy rhythm and immense, silky smooth vocals that boast just a little bit of sex appeal.

Lyrically 'A Song For Ya" details the torment of a messy break up. Being broken down and played for a fool. The other person reeling you in to push you away almost in the same breath. Giving up easily when the going gets a bit tough even though you've been through a lot together leaving you both stuck within nothing more than memories and regret. It captures the notion of acceptance, convincing yourself you're over it, telling yourself "I know my friends back home would say, they never even liked you anyway" to help numb the pain you're feeling.

Visually 'A Song For Ya' follows on from the bands previous single 'Steal My Hoodie' building on the story they have created showing the stages of a relationship from their own experiences.

'A Song For Ya' is exquisite, both musically and lyrically. It's a painful journey through emotions wrapped in a glistening montage of genres and soothing synths. The songwriting is outstanding and the track's production is flawless. Canada is hiding some incredible new music that needs to be heard by the masses.
