SINGLE REVIEW: Glitter Etiquette - Brick Lane
New Yorker's Glitter Etiquette serves up a stunning retro soundscape on their new single 'Brick Lane'.
Immersive, dreamy, and captivating 'Brick Lane' draws inspiration from 80's indie, think NME's C86, as well as shoegaze bands such as early Lush or Jesus and Marychain.
'Brick Lane" is a magnificent deluge of understated electric riffs, fuzzed-up bass, and thoughtful poignant drums. It's an absorbing sound that pulls you in and has you hooked. There's a bizarre futuristic twinkle at times that I'm not a fan of but aside from that it's a sensational tune that balances retro with a modern fresh spin. A track that would be at home anywhere from the 80s to the present day.
Building for its finale into a chaotic deluge of My Bloody Valentine comparable distorted noise.
The vocals are smooth but also slightly rough around the edges which makes 'Brick Lane' totally endearing, perfectly imperfect, allowing the emotions to pour like glitterful tears. While well-produced it retains a DIY feel which is delightful and charming.
Glitter Etiquette has a wonderful sound, adding a modern twist on retro vibes they're sure to take the NYC music scene by storm.
