SINGLE REVIEW: Earthlung - Salvation

The new single 'Salvation' from Brighton's Earthlung is simply stunning, one of the most emotionally hard-hitting tunes you'll hear this year.

'Salvation' captivates with harrowing strings and a sinister, uneasy energy. It swoops and soars through tone changes from gentle and fragile to epic, dramatic bursts of riff-heavy rock. It gives the impression of a dream colliding with a nightmare. A peaceful yet unnerving sound.

It mounts and melts throughout as the lyrics pour with sensations of emotional unrest; a yearning for salvation, and a still mind. The idea that sometimes the smallest things are the most difficult; "half the fight is getting dressed". 'Salvation' beautifully covers the highs and lows, torture, and torment of depression which is mirrored in the changing mood of the music.

Singer Ebony's vocals are simply sublime, symphonic yet ethereal they encapsulate feelings of vulnerability beautifully. The pain and anguish stream throughout.

'Salvation' is a slow burner that the band says intentionally never quite gets where it's going, however, it still manages to have maximum impact taking the listener on a voyage through their own dark feelings and insecurities.
