SINGLE REVIEW: Anya Van Rose - Pretty Please

Anya Van Rose's latest single 'Pretty Please' mixes darkened whirling guitars with charming, dreamy, ethereal vocals.

A montage of shifting perspectives, there are hints of the fuzzed-up nature of grunge and psychedelic 60's vibes. The track is like an ever-changing kaleidoscope. Moving from a starry-eyed, head-in-the-clouds daydream to a fierce but feminine reality check.

'Pretty Please' is a soundscape of contraction, sweet and girly combined with blackened and unnerving. Reminiscent of bands such as Belly the track has a retro 90's vibe as it engulfs with the idea of a hedonistic yet nightmare-ish limousine journey. The vocal harmonies are presented as if to mimic a car horn frantically beeping.

Anya Van Rose has created an immersive sound that really captures your imagination. Her playful songwriting and wonderfully serene vocals work beautifully with the overall darkness of 'Pretty Please'.

By day I'm a Leaks, Condensation, Damp and Mould Resident Liaison Officer and by night I'm CRB's admin bitch, reviewer extraordinaire, point and hope for the best photographer, paperclip monitor and expert at breaking anything technical then expecting Scott to fix it!

I'm into all kinds of music the more obscure the better (my music taste is definitely better than yours šŸ¤ŖšŸ˜œ) with my fave band being The Wonder Years.

I'm an Ipswich Town fan and have an unhealthy obsession with hedgehogs!
