SINGLE REVIEW: Aaronson - The Great Swells That Carry Us and Pull Us Under

Captivating Welsh instrumental trio Aaronson return with latest single 'The Great Swells That Carry Us and Pull Us Under'.

Not being one for instrumentals it takes something special and emotive to pique my interest and capture my imagination 'The Great Swells That Carry Us and Pull Us Under' managed that with ease. The track is a mystifying cinematic soundscape of encapsulating post rock. Epic with beautiful melodic tendencies. Grand and erupting with blasting proggy brilliance and fuzzed up shoegaze distortion.

The sound takes the listener on a journey through emotions; sparkling and comforting through to harrowing and intense. It's a voyage between highs and lows. One minute delivering an impassioned high the next pulling you down into the depths of nervousness and a questioning mind. The feeling that the wave that was once carrying you becomes more volatile suddenly opting to let you down.

A gripping, noisy crescendo of sounds and moments of twinkling magnitude. It's an enchanting, enriching listen. Melodic chords battling beefy riffs, demanding drums and the droning bassline. For an instrumental track 'The Great Swells That Carry Us and Pull Us Under' is as emotionally torturous as any hard-hitting lyric. A real crusade through an ever shifting mind performed by highly talented musicians.
