Dundee Alt Rock Newcomers’ Debut EP Days of Grey Released 7th June 2024

EP Release Show 6th July 2024 @ Dundee, Beat Generator

Dundee alt rock newcomers Red Vanilla are pleased to reveal the video for their new single ‘Outside In’ which is released on 21st May 2024.

The track is the final single to be taken from their debut EP Days of Grey, set for release on 7th June 2024 on all good digital service providers.

Commenting on the single, lead guitarist George Weller says: “‘Outside In’ was originally written to be on acoustic guitar with a distorted lead line, very much like ‘Where Is My Mind?’ by Pixies. We found when rehearsing it that the riff worked better as a whole band with the rhythm guitar distorted and that's the way it stayed. I think there's a lot of times in this song where you can hear the connection between the rhythm guitar and drums really clearly and that's something I'm proud of.”

The new offering follows on from previous single ‘The Know How’ and anthemic EP lead single ‘All These Better Things’ which were released earlier this year, with the band so far garnering support from CLASH Magazine, VISIONS Magazine, Discovery Music Scotland, The Punk Site, Maximum Volume, The List, The Skinny Magazine, The Courier and more.

Red Vanilla’s densely, guitar-driven sound is elegantly wrapped in ‘90s inspired pop-hook vocals, and the band have been slowly and steadily cutting their teeth on the road over the past few years, gathering pace as they hone their polished radio-ready rock sound.

They appeared at Outwith Festival 2022 alongside Fatherson and Pulled Apart By Horses, and have also played shows with fast-rising contemporaries in Reminders, Beach Riot, and Redwood.

The band released their debut single ‘Embers’ in 2022 and have spent the past 18 months readying the reveal of their forthcoming debut collection of material, with forthcoming debut EP Days of Grey set for release later this year. A tightly wound and packaged collection of searing alt-rock songwriting, it’s certain to mark them out as a bold new Scottish voice to keep tabs on.

Red Vanilla will play a special hometown EP release show at Beat Generator, Dundee on 6th July, with further live dates TBA.

More info:
Despite meeting in a refreshingly old school way through a series of online adverts which the band felt was “the universe waiting to connect us all when the time was right”, vocalist Anna Forsyth insists that it’s “not about the backstory—it’s about where we want to end up.”

As such, the Dundee newcomers are in the midst of an identity bloom. Through their impassioned choruses, and notably in the explosive finale of recent lead single ‘All These Better Things’, the band are striving relentlessly to bury the belittling opinions of any doubters, and flourishing in the liberty that their newfound inner strength has brought them.

“We pour everything we have (time, money, energy, and everything in between) into this band, and this band only,” says Forsyth of their fiercely ambitious work ethic and mindset. “Working day jobs to fund it all, and spending every spare moment rehearsing, writing, planning, preparing—anything that's going to help us get where we want to be.”
