Peter Xan announces Empty Space, a new EP releasing via FADER label on the 12th November. Xan also shares exhilarating new single ‘For The Weekend’ with accompanying video, premiered on Kerrang!
Empty Space has been produced by Dimitri Tikovoi (The Horrors, The Libertines, Placebo, Charlie XCX, Blondie etc), Mike Malchicoff (King princess) and Slim Typical (Rudimental, Venbee).
Empty Space is the follow up to 2023 EP GOD SAVE THE KING. A white-knuckle ride of 6 surging guitar tracks which cemented Xan’s reputation as the spearhead of a new unapologetic and urgent brand of indie rock, which he coined “Afrogrunge”. Xan drafted some of the biggest names in the the scene to work across GOD SAVE THE KING, from the likes of Fontaines D.C frontman Grian Chatten and Speedy Wunderground production legend Dan Carey.
Peter Xan is refreshing rock and roll in a way which is both vital and defiant. Take his huge new single ‘For The Weekend’, a track bursting with attitude and indie swagger and already a fan favourite at Xan’s incendiary live show.
Speaking on the new single, Xan offers: “For The Weekend is about self acceptance. I screwed up my last relationship trying to be someone I wasn’t. Ultimately you can go from hero to villain. And a the weekend we use as an escape to failed situationships and going out being young regardless of the outcome we still turn up. If you’re heartbroken but still wanna party with friends this is your track. For me it’s a more pop rock version of rejection anthem.”
Peter Xan’s music has razor-sharp hooks, glistening melodies and a spirit that evokes a lineage of British guitar music spanning 1970s punk to 2000s indie. 2023 EP GOD SAVE THE KING was is the end product of a period of profound artistic change and evolution for Xan.
2024 has already seen Peter play packed out shows at The Great Escape and Stag & Dagger, plus sell out headline shows in Paris, London, Manchester and Brighton. The rest of the year is equally crammed including support dates for one of Peter’s favourite bands, The Libertines plus he’ll be performing at the Nine8 Fest @ The Cause in London this October.
