Rising Oxford Emocore band Worst Wishes returns with their gripping new single “If I Don’t Wake Up”, available on all major streaming platforms now
Delivering an emotionally charged blend of raw vocals, dynamic guitar work, and atmospheric intensity, “If I Don’t Wake Up” dives deep into themes of existential anxiety, vulnerability, and resilience. The track is a bold step forward in Worst Wishes’ evolving sound which pays homage to influences like Movements, Basement, and Title Fight, while carving out a voice uniquely their own.
“This song came from collating a bunch of fears and anxieties that have stuck with me from my early years to now,” says Bassist and songwriter Josh Barton. “It’s about those intrusive existential thoughts that will sneak through when you’re having a nice time out with your friends, and you have to take that mental energy to take a deep breath and calibrate yourself ”
Recorded at Ranch Studios with Neil Kennedy (Creeper, Boston Manor Et al) and Matt Janke (Split Chain, Casey), “If I Don’t Wake Up” captures a haunting, late-night honesty that listeners will feel deep in their chest, a cathartic anthem for anyone who's ever struggled to make it through the night.
