Bridge City Sinners release album “Age Of Doubt”
This dark folk/Americana/bluegrass band with a touch of punk and metal is no longer an insider tip: the Bridge City Sinners from Portland, Oregon mix traditional Americana music with the mysticism of their country, New Era jazz and dark themes a la Amigo The Devil. They are particularly popular in the punk scene and play festivals such as Punk Rock Bowling.
Since their 2022 album "Unholy Hymns" entered the American Billboard charts at number 70, the Sinners have completed two extensive European tours and have now announced "Age Of Doubt" for July 12.
I would like to invite you to take a first listen and will gladly accept interview and review requests from now on.
The first digital single "Break The Chain" is also being released today, March 22:
It's a fast, melancholic bluegrass barn burner! "Break the Chain is a song about finding hope in times of uncertainty. As you get older, you feel like the world is less black and white and instead an endless sea of gray. The only constant really is change, and accepting that the future will always be uncertain makes the world less scary for me. Set in a world of conflict, Break the Chain refers to both ending the cyclical nature of violence and ending the inner turmoil of self-doubt." - Michael Sinner; Bridge City Sinners.
In an era dominated by uncertainty, "In the Age of Doubt" delves deep into the perpetual tug-of-war between determining what is right and what is wrong, and the endless pursuit of self-acceptance. Following the sonic trajectory of “Unholy Hymns” in an effort to fully explore our capabilities both as musicians and songwriters, this album combines our folk ethos and instrumentation with our proclivity toward heavier, more alternative styles of music. Both albums are set in the same fictional, hedonistic, post-apocalyptic world on the verge of collapse. Amid conflict and chaos, we explore themes of self reflection, insecurity, disassociation, and escapism. We all could use a break from the world, even from ourselves at times. These songs are an antidote to that harsh reality, a proclamation of solidarity with those who struggle with doubt in their own lives. There’s a tension and release between introspection and indulgence, and it’s too much to take on the weight of the world all on our own. In the end, it’s about the long journey and the connections we make along the way.
The Single "Break The Chain" will be out March 22nd
Break the Chain is a song about finding hope through times of uncertainty. As we get older it feels like the world is less black and white but instead is an endless sea of gray. This is where the first two lines of the chorus come from. There are so many forks in the road in a person’s life, and it's difficult to know if the path you’re on is the right one. We’ve all made bad decisions in the past, have things we’re ashamed of, and it's impossible to know how things would be different if you had just taken the other path. The only constant truly is change, and accepting that the future will always be uncertain makes the world less scary for me. Set in a world in conflict, break the chain refers both to ending the cyclic nature of violence, and ending the inner turmoil of self doubt. -Michael Sinner
About Bridge City Sinners:
From the misty, pine-covered hills of the Pacific Northwest hail the Bridge City Sinners, who span the continuum from prohibition era jazz to Appalachian death folk. This traditional string band line up bends the meaning of the word genre, Playing festivals from Punk Rock Bowling, to Riot Fest, to Oregon’s Bluegrass String Summit. They started their journey by busking on sidewalks across the country and now this supergroup of musicians find themselves on the national tour circuit. The Sinners still hold true to the DIY mentality of putting albums out on a self made record label, Flail Records. They recently hit #70 on the Billboard charts, top current album sales, for the week of September 4th 2021 for their album “Unholy Hymns”. With talented musicianship and a punk as f***! live show, this is one band you don’t want to miss.
