Merli Armisa Returns with New Single 'Capelli Argento'

Four years after his dazzling debut Lleb, musician and singer-songwriter Merli Armisa returns with a deeply enigmatic new chapter, sharing the first glimpse of his forthcoming second album for Dischi Sotterranei. The lead single, Capelli Argento, officially arrives on 26 March.

Dreamlike and nostalgic, Capelli Argento unfolds as a stream of consciousness that stretches beyond five minutes, shifting shape multiple times. It opens with a delicate synth arpeggio reminiscent of Four Tet, then builds into a psychedelic burst of analogue instrumentation. Just when it seems to reach a distorted peak, it fades into a deconstructed swirl of ethereal, pitch-shifted vocals. While the DIY and lo-fi spirit of his debut remains, this new material expands into denser territory, layering loops and delays to create a more enveloping atmosphere.

For the first time, Armisa incorporates acoustic guitar and piano into his sound, joined by Giacomo Ferrari (Generic Animal, Asino) on drums. The mixing process was supported by Fight Pausa (72-Hours Post Fight, Post Nebbia, Visconti), helping to shape the record’s textured and distinctive feel. The single will be presented live with a full band: Marco Bello (guitar, synth, vocals), Andrea Ceddia (bass), Lorenzo Mazzotta (drums), and Adalberto Valsecchi (sax).

Drawing influence from Asian shoegaze and ambient scenes, Armisa cites artists such as Parannoul, Asian Glow, and Mid-Air Thief as inspiration. Japanese visual culture also plays a role, with the track closing on a sample from the anime Sonny Boy by Shingo Natsume, tying in thematically with the song’s introspective nature.

If you're searching for music that transports you to distant, uncharted sonic spaces, Capelli Argento marks the beginning of a journey you won't want to miss.
