ADERYN - aka LISA MARTIN the Welsh Riot Grrrl/Alt Pop princess unveils her new 3 track EP ‘FOREVEREVER’ via Bandcamp to be released on Wednesday 26th Feb 2025 with digital distribution by Distrokid.   The EP ‘Foreverever’ features the current single, ‘Foreverever’, previous single ‘Hangxiety’ and accompanying track, ‘Deep Dive’, all three tracks were produced by Gethin Pearson at the Institute of Sonic Architecture, West Wales.    To celebrate the EP release a final limited pressing of VINYL EP’s, cassettes and CD’s are being made available to purchase via ADERYN’s BANDCAMP HERE

ADERYN has achieved a lot in her short career thus far.  BBC HORIZONS backed, PRS Momentum Accelerator Fund winner, Welsh Music Prize Triskel winner with airplay on BBCR1, Radio X, KEXP,  Kerrang! and BBC Radio 6 MusicADERYN left her sheep farm in the Brecon Beacons aged 16 and became a drummer in a grunge band.  Following stints drumming for West end musicals post-pandemic Lisa reset her musical direction with ‘maximum’ as her goal and began drip feed releasing a series of thrilling alt pop indie singles. For reference points; think modern Welsh icons Panic Shack and Adwaith along with legends like Sleater Kinney and Bikini Kill, all bessie mates with Corrine Bailey Ray (Circa ‘New York City Transit Queen’).  As one fan pronounced, ADERYN sounds like “Beabadoobee if she'd had far too much to drink!”  Previously signed to CLWB Music - (Panic Shack, Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard) but now proudly independent, ADERYN is a bold addition to The LOST agency PR's roster.  When not exploring existential dread via pop music, ADERYN teaches drums at BIMM, Bristol.  NOTE - ADERYN is the Welsh word for bird. (Pronunciation: Add - Erin, two equal syllables.)

Of the single ‘Foreverever’ Lisa says, “Mood swings take me from lamenting consequences, to dancing over them on ‘Foreverever’.  With this song I’m  ready to put down the Sylvia Plath novel and fixate on the heady rush of committing to forever.”  Plath aside, ‘Foreverever’ is certainly less overtly fuzzy than predecessor ‘Hangxiety’, with the scuzzy sharp edges molded by Gethin Pearson’s exquisite production into an altogether more upbeat electro tinged post punk dancefloor banger with nods to Pale Waves, The Murder Capital and even some seismic sideways lunges towards Charli XCX and Du Blonde

Of previous single ‘Hangxiety’ Lisa says: “I wrote this song after a big night out in Bristol. I literally quit drinking after writing this song, I was so hungover. It was very much a ‘never again’ moment.” In its 2 minute 20 run time, ‘Hangxiety’ careens through Aderyn’s vortex of thoughts. The lyrics are both earth shatteringly deep, yet playful and simple, as Aderyn asks the question felt by many 20 somethings - ‘Am I wasting my life, or having the time of my life?’ As the existential dread builds, the music cuts between heavy groove-based riffs and climaxes with a more frenetic punk outro.

Of ‘Deep Dive’ Lisa explains, “We’re always told that love lifts us up, but sometimes love is a headfirst nosedive. Deep Dive is about the darker side of loving someone, taking on their burdens as your own. Like much of my Foreverever EP, this song explores themes of childhood and coming of age, the lyric ‘I’m not a kid but I remember the feeling of wanting’ really sums up how that part of us that has wants that feel so urgent as a kid never really goes away, and perhaps we channel that into our search for a perfect relationship, or a storybook happy ending. Deep Dive acknowledges that unmet need for resolution, whilst also accepting that real life and love means embracing the dark as well as the light. Deep Dive is a true love song, because it says, despite all these burdens you carry, I will dive into the dark and be there with you.”

ADERYN won the Welsh Music Prize Triskel Award in 2022 and has been played on Radio 6, Radio 1 Future Alternative, and Radio X. The Triskel Award is an award presented annually at the Welsh Music Prize ceremony to three emerging artists from Wales. Supported by the charity Help Musicians, the award provides recipients with vital resources and guidance to help them develop and advance their music careers.

All three tracks on the ‘Foreverever’ EP were recorded and produced by Gethin Pearson at the Institute of Sonic Architecture, Lampeter. ‘Foreverever’ EP was mastered by Nat Bibby (Squid, The Big Moon, The Vaccines, Lewis Capaldi) at Metropolis studios, London. ‘Foreverever’ credits - Drums and Vocals: Lisa Martin, Bass: Jamie Wilkins & Guitar: Gareth Rees.

ADERYN’s notes on the EP Concept and Themes

The Foreverever EP explores themes of growing up, the push and pull between the chaos of youth and the dawning realisation that decisions have consequences. Mood swings take us from lamenting these consequences in ‘hangxiety’ to dancing over them in ‘foreverever’. Deep Dive offers the resolution and acceptance of one's decisions, but with the chaos and angst of youth burning slowly through the track and exploding in the emotionally heightened bridge as Aderyn sings “the best thing I ever had I lost too soon, I

thought I'd find it again, that feeling of wonder”.

The EP goes to some musically surprising places as Aderyn both struggles with and celebrates the act of making choices. This is a coming of age, but not a teenage one. Instead, foreverever toys with the existential questions that hit in your mid twenties. In Hangxiety, Aderyn fears she may be “too old for this, too young for everything else though”. By track 2, Aderyn is ready to put down the Sylvia

Plath and fixates on the heady rush of committing to forever. Each track has its own world, but there is a neurosis and a rush that comes with truly becoming an adult, that is ever present throughout the EP.
