Julian Taylor Shares Wistful Folk Single, "Ain't Life Strange," from Upcoming 'Pathways' LP
4x JUNO nominated singer-songwriter Julian Taylor is sharing "Ain't Life Strange," the curious and plaintive new single from his upcoming record, Pathways (out September 27th).
Produced by Colin Linden (Emmylou Harris, Bruce Cockburn, Blackie and The Rodeo Kings), the track was inspired by longing, exuding feelings of sadness, regret, and nostalgia. "It explores the idea of going back in time or at least wanting to go back in time to fix things before they become too broken," explains Taylor.
Gentle percussion is coupled with saxophone harmonies and acoustic guitar to hug the song’s warm and rhythmic ballad style. "Don't you wish sometimes that time would stand still? Do you ever wish that time travel was real?" he asks.

On his latest album, Pathways, Julian Taylor candidly captures how he approaches handling a litany of ever-lingering burdens which mirror the struggles we all experience. This relentless inner search has resulted in a collection of eight concise tracks co-produced by Taylor and Colin Linden, mixed by Linden and mastered by Greg Calbi.
The LP ays down the long, winding trail that leads its listeners toward finding their own personal zen amidst much internal discord. In Taylor's view, three words sum Pathways up perfectly: "...righteousness, acceptance, and enlightenment."
