LA alt-rock outfit Jagged Baptist Club release brand new LP ‘Physical Surveillance’, out today (November 15th) via revered indie label Nice Swan Records (English Teacher, Sprints, Chalk).
Spawning acclaimed lead singles ‘Blow Dry Nation’, You Are A Dog’ and ‘Bull On A Chain’, ‘Physical Surveillance’ marks the first album ever released on Nice Swan Records. Showcasing the band’s thrilling eccentricities in full force, their raw and exuberant energy has undoubtedly amplified their growing popularity and already drawn welcome comparisons to the likes of Blur, Public Image Limited, The Rapture and Division of Laura Lee.
Having recorded their upcoming full-length in Joshua Tree, California with esteemed producer Alex Newport (At the Drive-In, Bloc Party, City and Colour), the raucous quartet have secured plaudits from key indie champions (Rough Trade), as well as radio support across the BBC 6 Music (Steve Lamacq), KCRW, and Radio X (John Kennedy) airwaves. Meanwhile on the live front, the four-piece have already played several LA shows throughout the autumn, following previous shows with English Teacher and SPRINTS (2024 West Coast US tour support).
Speaking ahead of their album release, frontman Blake Stokes revealed: “‘Physical Surveillance’ is the sound of a party at the end of the world. It's about sex, death, rebirth, sobriety, addiction, expectation, anticipation, and eventually victory. Written in the depths of an industrial park on the outskirts of downtown Los Angeles and recorded in the middle of the Joshua Tree desert, this album invites the listener to hop into a reasonably priced, compact sports utility vehicle, and ride with JBC across modern Los Angeles and into the future.”
