Newport, South Wales indie/synth-pop quartet PARCS are delighted to reveal the official video for their forthcoming new single ‘Fever’, set for release on 21st November 2024.

Originally penned by Elly and Joe in their spare room before introducing the song to band members Kristy and Liam, the four piece refined and added structure to the song melodically through the addition of guitar and vocals, wrangling the track into its final “nu-disco” form.

Commenting on the single, the band say: “‘Fever’ started with a four on the floor drum beat, a disco-tinged bass loop and a simple but driven synth melody. Lyrically, it explores themes of relief and finding light after going through a period of darkness, falling in love with life again.”

New single ‘Fever’ is the latest offering from the band, and is the first look at a forthcoming new body of work which explores themes of depression, anxiety, and the feelings of hopelessness often found in a life of chronic pain whilst still encapsulating their signature hopeful, nu-disco-driven sound.

Written and recorded at the band members’ homes across months of collaboration and voice notes, the new material was finalised with vocals recorded at StudiOwz in Elly's home county, Pembrokeshire.

The track comes complete with an official music video which was filmed, directed, and edited by Callum Appleton. “We wanted the video to reflect the song’s sentiments, and figured a day at the beach with people you love represents the lyrics well,” say the band of the concept. “It’s all about falling back in love with life and beginning to feel yourself again, which would be impossible without friends. Filmed at Barry Island, we chose this location because it’s very nostalgic for people who have grown up and lived in South Wales.”

Drawing inspiration from the dreamy tones of ‘80s synth pop and the modern production style and techniques used in electronic music, South Wales’ PARCS have pioneered a future-leaning euphony that’s both uplifting and introspective by turns.

The band's sound is characterised by shimmering synths, hooky guitar riffs, driving bass lines, and four to the floor drums, with bittersweet, melancholic choruses that you can't help but move your feet to—it’s music with both groove and heart.

PARCS have released 2 EPs to date—2019’s I’m Not Having A Nice Time and 2022 follow-up Dawnsio Trist—with their most recent standalone single ‘Something Sweet’ dropping earlier in 2024.

Headlining the Settlement Stage at Greenman Festival 2024, as well as a stage at BBC 6 Music Festival Fringe in Cardiff, the quartet have become regulars at Focus Wales Festival. In 2024 they were awarded BBC Horizons funding which helped fund the new release.

They have received radio support from Deb Grant at BBC 6music, Adam Walton, Bethan Elfyn, and Molly Palmer at BBC Radio Wales and BBC Radio Cymru, and recorded a live session for Huw Stephens’ BBC Radio Wales show earlier this year.
