First Live Show In 5 Years @ Paper Dress Vintage, London - 3rd September 2024

Much-loved London indie-punk duo Happy Accidents are delighted to announce their return with their forthcoming new album Edit Undo, set for release on 27th September 2024 via Alcopop! Records.

To celebrate the news, the band are sharing new single ‘Infinite Possibilities' set for release on 3rd July 2024 via Alcopop! Records.

The band will play their first live show in 5 years on 3rd September 2024 at Paper Dress Vintage, London with further live dates TBA.

Commenting on the single, guitarist/vocalist Rich Mandell says: "This song is about how our brains play tricks on us, and how easy it is to feel boxed in despite an open road ahead. There are infinite ways to interpret the events that happen to us, and maybe only through endless trial and error will we really figure out what's going on up there."

Experimenting with ideas of the value of music in the modern age, and examining how time and financial value have all been skewed with today's total lack of scarcity, the band will be building and inviting their fans into a whole secret world around the album, all taking place on a hidden artist profile on the streaming platforms.

To gain access, fans will have to actively support the band by pre-ordering the record, or searching for the hidden page. In return, there will be extra singles, alternate versions and story elements—all of which happen along an alternate timeline. Ultimately, this will all lead to the whole album being available to stream on the secret page a month in advance.

“This isn't a backlash against streaming or anything like that,” says label boss Jack Clothier of the idea. “It's an experiment by two established DIY artists who have already toured the world, played every festival going, signed to indies, signed to major global management, and tried playing the game vs. not playing the game, to actually see if they can switch things up and continue to sustainably make their art for years to come.”

Adding their own thoughts on the concept for the release, the band say: “It’s partly about looking at ways to challenge the 'flash in the pan' nature of releasing music nowadays. It feels like with digital distribution, many small scale releases are here today gone tomorrow, and everyone immediately moves on. This is sort of an experiment in digital liner notes, trying to do something interesting within the streaming space without losing the convenience of how we all listen to music in 2024.”

Sinking their solid DIY roots on their 2016 debut album You Might Be Right, the new album will be the band’s fifth, and latest for Alcopop! Records since their 2018 second album Everything But The Here And Now, after self-releasing Sprawling (2020) and cgwarmth (2022), both produced by guitarist/vocalist Rich Mandell.

“I guess the difference this time is we recorded it over a longer period of time, going to the studio once a month and just seeing what came out,” says Mandell of their new creative process. “We've sort of integrated it into our normal lives which has been way more fun.”

Happy Accidents have long been a byword for quality and integrity in the UK underground scene, with their members touring internationally in multiple well-loved outfits including cheerbleederz and ME REX, and Mandell producing records from Fresh, Supermilk, Adults and more.

Over the years, their increasingly finessed output has garnered attention from publications including Noisey, DIY Magazine, Kerrang! Magazine and UPSET, with radio support from Annie Mac and Huw Stephens at BBC R1, Steve Lamacq at BBC 6music and John Kennedy at Radio X, and Spotify UK adding ‘Wait It Out’ to their official Garage Jams playlist.

They’ve also appeared at the likes of Reading & Leeds, The Great Escape, 2000 Trees, Truck Festival, Southsea, Hand Made, WTFest, A Carefully Planned… and more, alongside tours across Europe and the UK with the likes of Muncie Girls, Doe and Fresh.
