Robert John and the Wreck infuse blues with country and rock on their latest EP "One of a Kind". Earthy tones, melodic summer vibes, grand riffs, epic moments and an overall catchy uplifting sound. Paying homage to their Southern Rock n Roll roots with their souring guitars and rich vocal harmonies.
Leading in with 'No More Pain' it's a burst of big hooks, gravelly vocals and a grand chorus. Dramatic with bluesy guitars and twinkling keys. It challenges feelings of self-worth encapsulated in the line "I know I'm a good man, yet to be found".
'Who Can You Love' is a stunning, sunshine laced track with gorgeous vocals with laid back country vibes, blues influenced guitars and a funky little groove.
Title track 'One of a Kind' is a raw, anthemic dose of infectious Rock n Roll with endearing energy. Built from one riff the band had fun recording this one as they got to rock out in with a bunch of old guitars, amps and fuzz boxes to give the track a truly authentic retro feel.
Ending on 'Come At Me' with a groovy, southern stance taking further elements from blues it presents a fuzzier sound than the rest of the record. There's an engrossing guitar solo, raw vocals and chanting group chorus.
In summary Robert John and the Wreck have produced a dynamic, multi-dimensional record that infuses a variety genres to give each track its own individual personality and addictive energy. I suppose the best way to sum up the EP is by using the title itself, "One of a Kind".
