EP REVIEW: Kabelle - Restless Mind

London's Kabelle are a band in their infancy made up by a trio of seasoned musicians who have gigged extensively and lent their talents to an array of other artists. Debut EP “Restless Mind” capitalises on the absorbing synth heavy sounds of 80's power pop with electronica vibes and playful drum effects. It allows the group to show their own identity as artists and showcase what they can do. It's a sound that seems to fit somewhere between Dubstar’s Sarah Blackwood and Kim Wilde's catchy pop tones.

Starting with slow burner 'Million Pieces' which builds as the captivating vocals and catchy chorus are introduced backed with a hook heavy groove. It's an emotional listen that will get you right in the feels with the line "love hurts when you've got nothing to give" hitting particularly deep.

'Wonder' is a bright, infectious slice of pop with epic guitars and sugary vocals. It's confident with lyrics that convey the idea that you can only see your worth when you're at the bottom with the desire to regain your life, climb out of the rut you're in and embrace the wonder of who you truly are. It’s a song that is sure to leave you with a warm positive glow.

Title track 'Restless Mind' slows down proceedings with its pensive, quiet state and beautiful, understated, ethereal vocals. It continues 'Wonders' notion of healing and regaining yourself. It's an enthralling listening that will pull at your emotions. With a magnificent soundscape of gentle synths and stunning vocals. It builds mid-songs to a more grand, impactful sound.

'Ghost' gives us a frantic urgent pop with likeness to La Roux's 'In For the Kill' with its retro bouncy vibe. It's sure to set the dancefloor alight!

Synth heavy 'Buried' has majestic layered vocals, an engulfing sound and epic chorus.

'Fragile' twinkles in before introducing thoughtful vocals. It's an accumulation of pain, disillusionment at the world, loss of control and million thoughts going round in your head each one challenging and questioning the other.

Ending on 'Feel Better' it's another track to feature a retro stance, glistening synths and enchanting vibe. The lyrics beam with positivity capturing the idea that the battles we go through serve to make us stronger in the end.

'Restless Mind' beautifully showcases everything Kabelle have to offer. Stunning, immersive sounds, passionate lyrics that while embracing pain encapsulates the idea of brighter times ahead. It's a truly joyous listen that will not only make you think but will give you the overwhelming urge to want to have a dance.
