Dublin, Ireland post-rock quartet Overhead, The Albatross are delighted to announce they will release their second album, I Leave You This, on 15th November 2024 via new label home Nice Weather For Airstrikes (Poly-Math, VLMV).

To celebrate the news, the band are sharing an AA-single, featuring colossal and expansive A-side ‘Your Last Breath’ and AA side ‘This Is Like Love’, out now on all good streaming services.

A sprawling piece experimenting with elements of prog, math-rock, electronic influences, and their own already much-loved signature brand of post-rock, ‘Your Last Breath’ subtly bridges the gap between the familiar and the extraordinary within the post-rock genre, as OTA intertwine strings, electronics, and synths with the raw energy of guitars and drums.

Overhead, The Albatross describe A side ‘Your Last Breath’ as “a song that both mourns death, loss, and grief, and celebrates the awe and beauty of this life we all share with one another”, whilst the AA side is a heartfelt nod to the music that shaped the band’s youth.

Blending modern instrumentation with nostalgic influences, ‘This Is Like Love’ captures the emotional resonance of those early tracks that left a lasting impact on their musical journey. “Layered arrangements and evocative melodies create a sense of longing, as if reaching back to simpler times,” say the band of the track. “While rooted in the past, this song also reflects the band’s evolution, crafting a sound that feels both familiar and forward-thinking. It’s a celebration of music’s power to evoke deep memories and emotions.”

Formed in 2009 and deriving their name from a line in Pink Floyd's 1971 Meddle album track ‘Echoes’, OTA have finally re-emerged as a quartet after a reflective hiatus following 2022’s standalone single ‘L’Appel du Vide’.

With their 2016 debut album Learning To Growl resonating deeply enough to be nominated for the RTÉ Choice Music Prize Album of the Year and named Irish Times’ Album of The Week, and a reputation for powerful and emotional live performances, second album I Leave You This promises to be both a homage to their roots and a daring leap into uncharted territory.

Fans can anticipate the familiar embrace of cinematic soundscapes and atmospheric grandeur, coupled with surprising new textures that challenge and inspire, promising a journey that's both expansive and intimately woven, signalling their quiet yet profound evolution.

The band have previously appeared at Electric Picnic, PORTALS, All Together Now, Stendahl Ireland, Castlepalooza, Indiependence, Hard Working Class Heroes and The Camden Crawl, recently completing a UK headline tour run with further live dates TBA for 2025.
