‘Beg For The Torture’ is California punk trio Destroy Boys’ rip-roaring new single, out today on Hopeless Records. Clocking in under one and a half minutes in length, the track is a searing tornado of punk rock fuelled female empowerment. Vi Mayugba from the band explains: "Beg For The Torture is a song about being confused, like a lot of DB songs that came before it. However, this one is elevated heavily with new musical dynamics, and I think it conveys my feelings better than ever before. I wrote my part of the lyrics about going back and forth between resentment and adoration for a person. I often find myself in entanglements with people that I shouldn’t be in, and this song is a perfect representation of that. It encapsulates my feelings of obsession, rage, desperation, and catapulting between feeling like the sexiest woman alive and a neglected child’s plaything. We made it a point to make the instrumentals feel overwhelming and haunting to match how I feel. Sometimes my crushes make me feel like the girl who is bound to die first in an 80s horror movie - this song represents that."

‘Beg For The Torture’ is the first glimpse at new music from Destroy Boys since 2021 and was produced by Carlos de la Garza (Bad Religion, Paramore, The Linda Lindas). Destroy Boys’ new single comes as they prepare to take the stage at Coachella this month. And they’ll be continuing a busy 2023 live-wise with UK and European headline shows and a slew of further festival dates from May through to the summer. All details below.

Started in Sacramento in 2015 by Alexia Roditis and Violet Mayugba while they were still in high-school, Destroy Boys’ first releases were acoustic demos on Bandcamp. Their first full-length ‘Sorry, Mom’ remains a classic for the band’s fans, having spawned the underground hit ‘I Threw Glass At My Friend’s Eyes and Now I’m On Probation’. The follow up record, ‘Make Room’, recorded by Martin Cooke (Death Cab for Cutie, Of Monsters and Men) was tracked in just four days and yielded favorites such as ‘Crybaby’ and ‘Duck Eat Duck World’ (later featured on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater soundtrack.)

As their songs took off on Spotify and TikTok, Destroy Boys signed with Los Angeles’ Hopeless Records in 2020. Working with Philadelphia producer Will Yip (Turnstile, Circa Survive), their first Hopeless release was the snarling, one minute ripper, ‘Muzzle’. The eventual LP ‘Open Mouth, Open Heart’, released in late 2021, chronicled a band dealing with familiar pandemic-frustration and the rise of online gossip and bullying head-on. Expressive and emotive, the record even features two tracks in Spanish, with bilingual vocalist and guitarist Alexia Roditis truly finding their voice in both languages.

Headlining for the first time in 2021 brought a succession of sold out shows and the reassurance that their connection with their audience was never stronger. Rolling into 2022, the band toured the UK with Alkaline Trio and Taking Back Sunday, as well as headlining their own sold-out shows on UK soil, before crisscrossing the US several times and producing lauded performances at Riot Fest, Dia De Los Deftones and more. Destroy Boys’ impassioned live show is not-to-be-missed.
