Bradford’s Drella Announce New Single ‘Nothing To Lose’ and Autumn UK Tour
The Bradford alternative rock trio are set to release their new
single ‘Nothing To Lose’ on Friday 29th September and will hit the
road for a string of UK shows in November
“An incendiary new band from Bradford” - Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music “They make me want to mosh and get proper feral!” - Alyx Holcombe, BBC Radio 1
“The political bleakness of our contemporary age affects almost everyone… Drella are here to give a voice to that fury and show us that we’re together in our isolation” - Poppy Bristow, Fresh on the Net
Following the release of their acclaimed single ‘Divide’, which received plays on BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music, Bradford alternative rock trio Drella have announced the details of their next single, ‘Nothing To Lose’.
‘Nothing To Lose’ explores the themes of police violence and power structures with a defiant call for strength and solidarity in our divided times, continuing the bands trend of releasing brave and culturally relevant punk songs.
“The song is a social commentary on recent high profile police failings” explains frontman Jonathan Whyatt. “The ethos of punk music is to challenge power structures and people’s way of thinking about them. Recent incidents where the police have abused their powers or upheld problematic power structures means it is more important than ever to gaze upon their role with a critical eye.”
Another product from the bands collaboration with Ady Hall and Lee McCarthy of Sugar House Music (Corella, VENUS GRRRLS, Viola Beach), the song contains many aspects that have become characteristic of Drella’s sound; a crunching guitar hook, a melodic baseline and a thunderous drumbeat, as well as lyrics that are loud enough for the rioters and sharp enough for the deep thinkers.
Drella will be promoting the single with their first ever UK tour, which includes dates in Nottingham, Manchester and London. Their full tour dates are below:
Friday 10th November - Via Fossa, Nottingham Saturday
11th November - Heartbreakers, Southampton Thursday
