Perennial pop enthusiasts ART BRUT are delighted to kick off a very special fortnight retrospective celebration of their career on streaming services and social media this week.
To celebrate their forthcoming box set releases, Alcopop! Records have attempted to cram 20 years of memories into 14 halcyon days, sharing glittering images and videos from the past, witty comment from celebrated raconteur Eddie Argos and brand new (old favourite) digital reissues of Art Brut albums. Hooray!
Commenting on the news, label boss Jack Clothier says: “It will be a lovely fortnight, filled with good friends, perfect memories, and desires for future happiness, but most importantly it will remind us how f**king immaculate this back catalogue is. Ready Art Brut?”
The band will release a new limited edition double compilation LP titled A Record Collection, Reduced To A Mixtape plus a 5 CD box set, And Yes, This Is My Singing Voice!, on 26th July 2024 via Demon Records and Edsel Box Set.
The releases are available to preorder now from: http://artbrut.lnk.to/compilation
Forthcoming double LP set A Record Collection, Reduced To A Mixtape features tracks taken from their seminal albums Bang Bang Rock and Roll, It’s A Bit Complicated, Art Brut vs Satan, Brilliant! Tragic!, alongside rare live and alternate takes, all compiled by the band.
It serves as the first comprehensive career retrospective from Art Brut since the Top of the Pops album in 2014, and brings together the best and most well‑known tracks from their catalogue. The special edition (pressed on 140g marine green vinyl and limited to 500 copies) also features a liner note written by Art Brut frontman Eddie Argos, and a hand‑signed print.
In addition, the new 5 CD box set, And Yes, This Is My Singing Voice!, is the first edition of a two-part set: a comprehensive compilation of the South London art-rockers’ career, spanning their early discography, demo takes, alternative mixes and live recordings between 2003 – 2008.
The collection features the debut album Bang Bang Rock and Roll, their second studio album It’s A Bit Complicated, and also includes unreleased live material Art Brut – Live in Paris 2006 and Art Brut Live From ULU with Horns.
The CD box set comes with a 24 page zine, with a 2,000 word liner note from Art Brut frontman Eddie Argos and exclusive photography of the band. It also includes a signed print of an original Art Brut artwork, painted by Eddie Argos.
Art Brut will play a run of UK and DE shows this September and October 2024, with a London date at Brixton Electric on 26th October. Tickets are on sale now, see below for listings.
