ALBUM REVIEW: Sea Girls - Homesick

I’m pretty sure the second album from London based quartet Sea Girls is going to make your ears very happy!

If you like your rock loud and anthemic you're going to love Homesick. There's a reason these lads can't stop selling out shows. This is what classic rock of the future sounds like!

These songs will be more than at home filling arenas with fans singing along at the top of their lungs. Yes there are plenty of modern rock bands who are all reasonably good but none of them do it quite as well as Sea Girls. This band are outstanding at what they do.

On the surface Homesick is a riff heavy album filled with up tempo guitars and catchy choruses but a closer listen shows a much darker theme of drugs, loss and heartache it's clear to see this is band who have been through a lot and have chosen to share their vulnerability with their listeners which is a brave thing to do but at the same time makes the band very real and relatable.

My favourite track on the album is single Hometown. I've been obsessed with it since it first came out. Lyrically deep and musically an anthem for me it has it all and, to make a bold statement would probably make it into my top 40 all time rock anthems.

Other highlights are Lonely, Paracetamol Blues and Sleeping With You although the whole album is one big highlight not a bad song on the record. Listened through many times and haven’t once felt the urge to skip a single song although a few get repeat back to back plays.

If you're looking for something quirky and experimental you'll not find that on Homesick but if you're looking for some of the finest rock to come out of the decade so far you're going to find that in abundance. If we gave albums marks out of 10 I'd give Homesick a 12!

Homesick is out now!

I'm Amy a Norfolk girl, currently residing at the seaside.

Age: eternally 21 (I’m really Peter Pan!).

By day I'm a Leaks, Condensation, Damp and Mould Resident Liaison Officer and by night I'm CRB's admin bitch, reviewer extraordinaire, point and hope for the best photographer, paperclip monitor and expert at breaking anything technical then expecting Scott to fix it!

I'm into all kinds of music the more obscure the better (my music taste is definitely better than yours 🤪😜) with my fave band being The Wonder Years.

I'm an Ipswich Town fan and have an unhealthy obsession with hedgehogs!
