WAIVER WIRE CHANNEL POP PUNK LEGENDS ON NEW SINGLE “BRAIN ON THE BOX”

Massachusetts pop punk four-piece Waiver Wire have released their new single “Brain on the Box,” the follow-up to their 2022 sophomore EP Wasted Time Well Spent.

Sonically, Waiver Wire have put forth an ear-worm blend of tracks you’d expect to find on Sum 41’s All Killer No Filler and Real Friends Composure - iconic albums that remain classics to this day. It’s punchy, driving, and high energy, yet simultaneously thoughtful and provoking. Lyrically, there’s a modern take on not becoming another casualty of society, as Deryck Whibley might say.

Speaking on the single, vocalist Josh McKelvie had this to say, “As we continue to evolve and alchemize, we strive to incorporate more of our collective influence beyond mere pop-punk. Lyrically, the song speaks to the human impulse to assume and play a role deemed acceptable and sanitary by society, while attempting to maintain an individualism and sense of self.”

WHAT ARE PEOPLE SAYING

“It’s punchy in both lyrical content and sound, with some creative wordplay and hooky melodies. When a song is this fun to listen to, it’s particularly impressive that it is also so intentional and cutting with its words.”

ABOUT WAIVER WIRE

Defying description since 2018…

… but I’ll give it a shot anyways. Waiver Wire are a pop punk four-piece hailing from Massachusetts. While formed in 2018, the band’s official debut EP Hold Your Applause was released in 2020, setting the stage for the classic high-energy pop punk sound the band has become synonymous for. Taking direct influence from legends of the genre in blink-182, Fall Out Boy, and Sum 41 on their debut, the band mixed in the modern flair of bands such as Real Friends and Neck Deep on their 2022 sophomore EP Wasted Time Well Spent. Now, the band is back with their new single “Brain on the Box,” expanding their sound once again and establishing themselves as an up-and-coming force to be reckoned with in the pop punk scene.
