London-based producer X JUNO (aka Zach Urch) is delighted to announce his debut solo album Make It Out Alive, which is set for a summer 2024 release.
As a first taste of the material, lead single ‘Break Free’ is released on 15th November 2023—a poignant track that chronicles Urch’s recent struggles with his mental health, but ultimately celebrates the beginning of a positive new chapter in his life.
Commenting on the single, Urch says: “Written and recorded whilst recovering from a severe psychotic episode, ‘Break Free’ is the lead single from my upcoming debut album ‘Make It Out Alive’. I truly believe making the album was one of the things that helped me recover from psychosis, and in a way saved my life. ‘Break Free’ is about cutting loose from mental illness, and starting to become the person you want to be and live the life you’ve always wanted to live.”
A soulful electronic music project that blossoms into an impressive 9-piece in a live setting, X JUNO is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist, producer and primary songwriter Zach Urch, best known as the lead guitarist and backing vocalist for indie-pop outfit Honey Moon, who have racked up millions of streams on Spotify and even played Glastonbury Festival.
Whilst recovering from mental health issues culminating in a period of psychosis during the summer of 2021, Urch created most of the album’s instrumentals in the space of a 2 month burst of creativity, and enlisted the help of friends including Yaz Aiyla and Droz to provide the vocals, occasionally picking up the mic himself for the record’s more personal tracks.
Through crusty hip hop grooves, swirling string crescendos, silky synth arpeggiators and sleazy wah guitar licks, X JUNO paints a vibrant picture of Urch’s newfound freedom from psychosis, and tells tales of some of its horrors along the way.
X JUNO will be revealing further new music, album details, and live dates over the coming months.
