FEB 11 - Wings Of Desire release new single ‘a few more years’ ahead of a UK tour (full dates below). The single has a white label 7” available for pre-order now; a remix by Ghost Culture (Daniel Avery, Kelly Lee Owens) features as the B-side.
Imbuing their now trade-mark gritty dream-pop sound with krautrock-indebted electronics, ‘A Few More Years’ oscillates between James Taylor’s poetic talk-singing paean to youthful glory days, and sweet harmonising with Chloe Little on a chorus which looks to the future in a combination of optimism and wistfulness. Talking on the track, James Taylor says:
“A few more years is a sober reflection on the heady days of youth.
As we live through a world in flux let’s hark back to a time before algorithms and the financialization of social life.
Windows down, Benson & Hedges lit. Watching the sun come up with dread as others march to their daily commute.
A note on a past period of personal crisis, and a message to my younger self.
Hold on for a few more years as things do get better with time.
Everything looks beautiful from here.”
‘A Few More Years’ is a standalone single which heralds the beginning of a new era for the duo, with their next long-form project on the not too distant 2025 horizon
