White Label Release ‘Stay Together’ On May 2nd In The Lead Up To Their Debut EP
Combining the rhythmic edge of hip hop with the melodic textures of indie rock, White Label are a four piece band from the South East of the UK. Known for their electrifying live performance and refreshing approach to alternative music, White Label are a ‘must see’ out of the UK’s up and coming new artists.
After moving to Brighton in late 2023, vocalist Toby Taylor and guitarist Joe Alexander quickly decided to reimagine their vision for the music they wanted to make. After spending time crafting their own sound from notable influences of hip hop, RnB, Britpop, indie and funk, Taylor and Alexander soon recruited like-minded drummer Max Lascelles and bassist Tom Woods, and White Label was born.
‘Stay Together’ encapsulates the band’s ethos of merging these various genres, creating space between the rhythm and melodic sections during the verses to then cathartically pull them together in the chorus. This approach to arrangement is what sets White Label apart from other groups on the
scene. Though fusion is nothing new to the music industry, this particular blend of indie rock and hip-hop invites listeners to something incredibly individual and previously unexplored.
Frontman, Toby Taylor, had this to say about the track; “Stay Together is about conflict. It is about two people who want different things, coming to terms with, and processing those emotions. You could attribute it to young love or coming of age, the song represents that struggle within the dissolution of your heart and mind and deciding which one to choose.”
‘Stay Together’ is the second of the four singles in the lead up to White Label’s debut EP, which promises to not just be an introduction to the band and their musical capability, but a deep dive into what White Label is and aims to achieve. To mark the release of ‘Stay Together’, White Label will be playing a headline show at The Pipeline in Brighton on the 3rd of May. You can also catch White Label at their other upcoming live dates:
