Message From the Label:

Vølus is a one man blackened death metal band from South Carolina, USA and formed in 2018. This album is the 3rd full length album from the band combining Blackened Death Metal, Dissonant Death Metal and Progressive for an off-kilter experience. 6 Tracks spanning a little over 30 minutes of run time, this is the most expansive Vølus record to date. For fans of Psionic Madness, Out of the Mouth of Graves, Portal and Blackened Death Metal music as a whole. This album releases on July 15th, 2023 on CD format via Vargheist Records.

About the Album
Vargheist Records label owner Justin Vølus returns with the latest offering from his flagship solo project of the same namesake, Vølus. The project has gradually evolved and refined its sound with each release, with this latest offering being its most complex, technical and atmospheric to date.

Building on the progress made on Thrown to the AbyssOathsworn Vengeance takes things further down the progressive path. The album demonstrates just how dynamic Justin has become as a musician, a song writer and a vocalist. Everything he has learned from his other projects such as Out of the Mouth of Graves and Psionic Madness has helped him elevate his skill level  for this release. Its all been building to this and the journey has been fantastic to watch.

Monstrously heavy guitars create a suffocating atmosphere that works in tandem with moments of extreme dissonance to assault the listener. What really sets the album apart from many of its contemporaries though is the level of balance achieved between this raw aggressive dissonance and the cavernous atmospheric elements. This balance is exactly what makes projects such as Ulcerate so powerful and the same can be said of  Vølus

Backing up the instrumentals, or should I say towering over the top of them, are Justin's signature vocals, which hit with the force of a freight train. Often compared to early career Travis Ryan of Cattle Decapitation, Justin's full force gutturals are a force to be reckoned with. Although it could easily be a battle for dominance between these vocals and the instrumentals, quality mixing and mastering ensure that they elevate each other than competing.

So strap yourself in for six tracks of crushing, suffocating progressive atmospheric blackened death metal, South Carolina style.
