VANARIN: officially out second single off third album, "Hey Listen!", via Dischi Sotterranei
After the successful song A Fly On The Wall released in June via Dischi Sotterranei, this week on July 24th VANARIN returned with a second single titled Hey Listen!, another catchy anticipation from the Italo-English band's third album.
An eclectic track of undoubtedly international scope, in which references to the nu soul in an indietronic sauce of Hot Chip's early work are recognizable combined with an appeal that winks at the minimalist synth pop of Junior Boys, all contaminated with expertly blended hip hop references. The result is a richly detailed melodic structure that surprises the listener with each play and makes the tune extremely addictive and a carrier of good vibrations.
Overall, the song conveys an infectious optimism found in the lyrics as well, where the protagonist reflects positively on the future as he watches the children in his neighborhood happily play, despite the little they have and the everyday adversities: «Hey listen it's the kids outside, they just wanna find some time, they don't wanna feel so bad, it's an unfair mad world we have. You've gotta pave that road, even when your hands get cold». An image of hope to brighten up these dark and fragile times.
BIOGRAPHY
VANARIN is an Anglo-Italian psych-pop band that was formed in July, 2016, by David Paysden, Marco Sciacqua, Massimo Mantovani and Marco Brena. Their style of music is best described as a combination of psych-pop and rock. The band has currently two EPs and two full-length albums under their belt, playing more than 150 gigs participating in big festivals like MI AMI Festival, Siren Festival and Radio Onda D’urto in Europe and Zandari Festa and LUCFest in Asia opening for various international acts such as Battles, Thurston Moore, Public Image Ltd, Yellow Straps, The Rodeo, Silica Gel and HYBS.
The band has two EPs and two successful albums to its credit so far, Overnight (2018, Woodworm) and Treading Water (2022, Dischi Sotterranei).
On June 26th, 2024, they return with a new single, A Fly On The Wall, followed on July 24th by a second single, Hey Listen!, first excerpts from the band's highly anticipated third album which will be out on Dischi Sotterranei.
