Uncured Releases New EP ‘My Design’ and Premieres “Fight This War” Video

Metalcore band Uncured drops its latest EP, entitled My Design. Featuring six original tracks and a cover of Linkin Park’s classic “One Step Closer,” this release propels the band into the center of today’s active rock scene. My Design was produced by brothers Rex and Zak Cox, and was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Conclave Studios.

The new EP marks a turning point for the band that will establish Uncured as a force, both on tour and on the radio. The first single from My Design, titled "Let's Break Out," debuted in March on the Billboard Top 40 Mainstream Rock Chart at #38 and reached #13 on the SMR Active Rock Chart.

“Our first objective when writing My Design was to ensure that all of the songs on the EP were musically accessible to a broad audience,” says Rex Cox. “We wanted all of our choruses to inspire our audiences to sing along and participate in our music.”

My Design is a vocal tour-de-force for Rex, who delivers vocals that range from joyous on the band’s first single “Let’s Break Out” to emotionally evocative on the power-ballad “Another Angel Dies.” In addition to Rex’s melodic singing, My Design still gives Rex an opportunity to illustrate his classic rock pipes in songs like the aggressive “Fight This War.”

“We wrote and simultaneously recorded My Design in real-time at Conclave Studios,” says Zak Cox. “That approach gave us an opportunity to make the production elements of each song an integral part of the composition, instead of an after-thought within the mixing process.”

This approach is evident throughout My Design, which combines Uncured’s wide selection of guitar tones with modern beats and dozens of synths from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. Zak and Rex’s guitar work on the EP is remarkable, and each song on the EP features dazzling guitar solos to drive the music forward.

Uncured will be touring extensively across the globe in support of My Design, which will include a performance at the Inkcarceration festival in Ohio in July 2023.
