(30th July) Elias Sahlin and Vide Willemark are tibia. Today the duo make their debut together with "Two weeks of Gloria". A snarling, garage-rock flecked indie-pop cut that at once feels both nostalgic yet alluringly refreshing - lyrically grappling with the lure of a hedonistic lifestyle while hinting at the quiet beauty of a simpler path.

Best friends from school, Elias and Vide began to drift apart in their mid-twenties. They both knew that something had to be done. With that, they agreed to meet up at a trashy bar across the street from Vide's studio in Stockholm (Vide - an in demand songwriter and producer across the breadth of Sweden, & Elias - a Swedish GRAMMY nominated musician and artist himself) - to put the world to right.

It was there the two old friends quickly reconnected, reminiscing about their past, their friendship and the music they grew up on. tibia was born.

Soon after that night - reunited and reinvigorated by their shared past - they ventured back to the Stockholm high school basement where their friendship began, to build the foundations of what would become an album's worth of new songs. Operating with the most basic of recording set-ups, it was there that "Two weeks of Gloria" was recorded, along with 30 other tracks, amidst a burst of unprecedented creativity and drive.

"Two weeks of Gloria", the first of that batch to materialise is a song that crystallises the ethos and sound of tibia in fine fashion. From its drawling dual-vocal opening verse - a nod to the effects of "two weeks of partying" - the song then sweeps into its cathartic post-hangover chorus "rise up, Gloria / see what heaven looks like".

"Tequila sunrises and music is a dangerous combo. Last time we had a tequila-sunrise-kinda-night in the studio, we both woke up with tramp stamps of our lyrics ”see what heaven looks like now”. 10/10 would recommend."  – tibia

Speaking on the release of their debut single, tibia said:

"Two weeks of Gloria is the first song we ever wrote together so it’s our very first love child. The song is about a lifestyle where you keep making mistakes but also kind of deal with them. A really late night can also be seen as a rise-and-grind kind of morning if you just keep going, you know. We both tend to sweep through periods that can seem a bit rough from the outside, but one man's trash is another man's heaven."

tibia is a project rooted in friendship and the indelible threads that bind humans together. The music Elias and Vide are making is defiantly looking to the future, whilst retaining an appreciation of their forebears. Writing and producing together without prestige, embracing their mutual love for indie-pop, garage, pop punk and their shared admiration for acts including Suicide, The Sugarcubes, Gorillaz, The Undertones, MGMT and Nirvana, tibia are looking for meaning in a warped nightlife where it’s all about chasing highs and running from lows. Time will tell what they uncover - but with "Two weeks of Gloria" they've already landed on something very special.
