Tristan Tritt, son of superstar Travis Tritt, creates his own path away from country music into rock
Tristan, a singer/songwriter, loves subverting expectations as he makes his way touring across the US. Having a country music titan as both a musical influence and a dad, one might assume that the “son” would follow in his father's footsteps.
Well, as usual, the old adage about assumptions applies here as noted In a recent story in American Songwriter, “Some may expect Travis Tritt‘s eldest son to embody some mainstream ’90s country rock, but Tristan Tritt is all rock.” Just like many “sons of” including people like Lucas Nelson, Jakob Dylan, Wolfgang Van Halen and others, the road may be extra challenging but it is what drives him. As Tristan says, “I love my Dad and have inherited his work ethic and admire his talent, but my musical ear has always been drawn to rock and I wake up excited every day to keep moving forward.”
Fresh off of his headlining US tour, Tristan’s upcoming single “Sick of It” out on May 16, is his latest release from his debut EP What Are We Doing? due out in June. “Sick of It” showcases Tristan’s dynamic, full-throttle approach to songwriting with in-your-face, tongue in cheek lyrics, overdriven guitars, and catchy melodies showing a direct line to bands like Green Day, and Stone Temple Pilots with guitar work that reflects riffs put down by the DeLeo brothers all those years ago.
His last two singles were also hard rock songs "No Filter" and "Cause it's Mine" with this next release rounding out the trio of songs that showcases his drive, talent and passion for what he is doing.
