Transgressive Dark Rock / Electro Project ASGAARD Returns With New EP "Lullabies for Harlots"

Always at the forefront of the avant-garde, often ahead of their musical peers, forward-thinking, and not afraid of pushing boundaries, Asgaard needs no further introduction. Metamorphosis, constant evolution, and stylistic unpredictability – an amalgamation of these three phrases have become the signature quality of Asgaard’s body of work. The band has been present in the scene for 30 years and, due to bold and widely controversial records, is considered as one of the most visionary in Poland’s gothic / rock/metal genre.

“Lullabies for Harlots” EP is the band’s newest offering and a follow-up to a critically acclaimed 7th full-length album “What if…”. Delving even deeper into the universe of dark electronic music ASGAARD returns with what is believed to be their most experimental work up to date. Two brand new tracks with an exceptional cover of Behemoth’s “Antichristian Phenomenon” topped with the previously unavailable physical format acoustic renditions of three songs from the “What if….” album. The band again taps Bartłomiej Trzos, a renowned and award-winning graphic designer, to create the EP’s cover artwork and its design and layout.

“When it comes to the ‘Lullaby’, well… I guess this song purely defines what Asgaard is all about. ‘Unpredictability’ may be a good word down here. Besides, this is one of the most beautiful lullabies that you’ve ever heard in your entire life” – jokes Quazarre, the vocalist of the band.

"Lullabies for Harlots" out Nov 29th on Via-Nocturna Records (physical) and WormHoleDeath Records / The Orchard / Sony Music Entertainment (digital). Save the date!!!

In anticipation of the album, the band has released their first single, 'Lullaby'!

Formed in 1994, Asgaard debuted with their demo "Excellent Darkness Art" in 1995, gaining recognition in the doom and dark metal scenes. Their 1998 debut album, "When The Twilight Set In Again," was released by Mystic Production and showcased a doom-gothic-folk atmosphere, leading to notable performances alongside Behemoth and Limbonic Art.

The arrival of new vocalist Przemyslaw ‘Quazarre’ Olbryt revolutionized their sound for their sophomore album, "Ad sidera, Ad infinitum" (2000), which featured innovative arrangements and theatrical elements. Following a successful period with Metal Mind Productions, they released "Ex Oriente Lux" (2001) and "XIII Voltum Lunae" (2002), earning acclaim for their blend of symphonic and traditional metal.

In 2003, they released the "Lux In Tenebris" DVD and continued to perform with prominent bands like Katatonia. Their fifth album, "EyeMDX-easy" (2004), pushed musical boundaries with heavier and more complex compositions, while their 2012 album "Stairs to Nowhere" showcased eclectic influences, earning widespread media attention.

After a successful return with the album "What if…" in 2022, which explored rock-oriented sounds and Polish lyrics, Asgaard is back with their most experimental work yet— the "Lullabies for Harlots" EP. This release features two new tracks, a cover of Behemoth’s “Antichristian Phenomenon,” and acoustic versions of songs from "What if…". The EP showcases their continued evolution in dark electronic music, with striking artwork by acclaimed designer Bartłomiej Trzos. Don’t miss this exciting new chapter in Asgaard’s journey!
