The Norwegian Grammy-nominated pop/rock band TORA - fronted by guitar heroine Tora Dahle Aagård - will release their third album ‘Seventeen’ on 23rd September 2022. Hitherto released singles from the upcoming release are ‘Waste of a Pretty Face’, ‘Boy’ and ‘Higher’.

New producer collaboration

For this album, TORA have teamed up with producer Benjamin Giørtz, known from collaborations with acts such as Dagny, Kid Astray, Chris Holsten and Hedda Mae – bringing more pop to TORA’s soundscapes than that of previous releases (keeping, of course, Tora’s highly revered guitar solos).

“I’ve been a fan of Benjamin’s work for years – both as a musician and producer. I knew early on that he was the right guy for my next album. He is also an incredibly gifted and experienced musician, which has been imperative for our work. We speak the same language – he knows what I want. By merging his pop with my blues-rock, I feel that we have created something that really stands out and challenge the listener.”, comments Tora.

For the first time, Tora is co-producer. Over the course of the past two years, Tora herself has built its framework by recording guitar, bass guitar, percussion, writing choral arrangements and programming drumming before bringing the songs to the studio and her producer.

“Seventeen” is a contrast-filled album – both musically and lyrically. It features both high-energy, groovy pop tracks such as ‘This is it’ (feat. Cory Wong) and ‘Nice Girls Finish Last’, but also downbeat, sincere songs such as ‘Higher’ and ‘Girls Like Me’. Even ‘Call it a Trend’ – in a groovy house/pop wrapping – has found its way onto the album. It also features three instrumentals, in which the Tora can express herself through the guitar.

Though musically diverse and comprehensive, the album’s common thread can be found in its message to the listener: “With this album, I want to convey a message to people who feel different. The opening track, ‘Army of Rainbows’, is a homage to all who feel that they don’t fit into today’s common perception for what is considered normal. Be strong. Everything will be ok in the end.”

Despite her young age (28) and career holdup due to Covid-19, guitar virtuoso Tora Dahle Aagård has had a hitherto eventful career, including a performance in Royal Albert Hall, and sharing main stage at the world’s biggest virtual guitar festival Guitar.com LIVE with renowned names such as Joe Bonamassa, Santana, St Vincent and John McLaughlin. She has played with legends including Jennifer Batten (Michael Jackson), Paul Gilbert (Mr Big), Aaron Sterling (John Mayer) and Joey Landreth, as well as become International Ambassador for Marceau Guitars with her very own limited edition signature guitars designed in her name.

Tora has 160K followers from all over the world on Instagram. She is admired for her playful virtuosity and energetic stage presence, and her band is praised for their raw and striking shows.

«Tora will become Norway’s biggest guitar export of her generation.»
